Bringing with him extensive experience in global marketing strategy and operations, Jones served as partner and president of McKinney, a Durham, NC based advertising agency, several leadership positions at Gap and he managed Gap’s gift card subsidiary, Direct Consumer Services as President. He also held leadership positions at marchFIRST; Coca-Cola Company; Leo Burnett Worldwide and served as president and chief executive officer of LB Works advertising agency.

Travel Spend Climbs to Pre-Recession Levels

Visa released its 2011 Travel Snapshot reports highlighting key spend insights from Visa account holders traveling to and from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Visa account holders from these countries continued to increase spend on international travel-related purchases from 2010 to 2011, building momentum toward pre-recession levels. Travelers from the United States increased tourism spend on their Visa accounts by 7 percent, those from Canada by 11 percent, and Mexico by 19 percent. Most notably, travelers from Brazil increased international travel spend on their Visa accounts by 32 percent in 2011 – 43 percent of which was in the United States. Visa account holders from Brazil increased spend on travel to the United States by 41 percent, from $1.9 billion in 2010 to $2.7 billion in 2011, edging out the U.K. as the second highest total contributor to U.S. tourism revenue. Visa account holders from China increased travel spend within the United States by 61 percent, from $741 million in 2010 to $942 million in 2011.

iPayment Appoints Senior VP, General Counsel

iPayment announced the hiring of Philip J. Ragona as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Since 2002, he served as Senior VP, General Counsel and Secretary of Atrium Corporation. From 1995 to 2002, Mr. Ragona was with the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP in New York, with a focus on the firm’s litigation, securities and mergers and acquisitions practices. He began his legal career in 1992 at Cahill, Gordon & Reindel LLP in New York, where he focused on securities and commercial litigation. Mr. Ragona received his JD degree from Columbia University School of Law and his BA degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
