HSBC UK Implements Monitise Customer App

HSBC UK has launched its “Fast Balance” app which gives the bank’s retail customers instant access to their account balance and recent transactions direct from their smartphone. Fast Balance is available on iPhone and will soon be launched for Android and Blackberry phones, letting users easily and securely access up to 10 accounts via their smartphone, check their balances and review the six most recent transactions on screen. The “Fast Balance” has been developed by Monitise with HSBC as part of a new three-year deal with the technology and services company to develop and support them.

Financial institutions will benefit from Visa’s cutting-edge, patent-pending algorithms, which help detect fraud patterns. Visa Strategy Manager allows financial institutions to target the riskiest transactions with customized fraud strategies and determine whether a transaction should be approved, declined or flagged for review. It builds on Visa Advanced Authorization and bases its “risk scores” on a global view of fraud and spending patterns across the entire Visa network.

U.S. Bank Launches Reality iPhone App

The new U.S. Bank “Find US+” Application for iPhone allows on-the-go users to easily find and access more digitally enhanced information about the closest U.S. Bank branch or ATM. The new Find US+ App, based on augmented reality, merges the real world with a digital experience, creating a new way for customers with iPhones to locate U.S. Bank branches and ATMs. When pointed in a specific direction, the phone displays a computer-generated graphic for each location (branch or ATM), its address and distance based on the user’s GPS location. Each graphic is color-coded to reflect whether the location is open, closing in an hour or closed. The app recognizes when the user arrives at the destination and asks if additional information is requested. It also provides the best route and hours of operation.
