VeriFone PAYware Mobile Facilitates Oracle mPOS

Oracle’s Retail Mobile POS was developed using the Verifone “PAYware” Mobile Enterprise solution and software development kit. The “PAYware” Mobile Enterprise for Tablet and Touch incorporates an encrypted card reader and bar code scanner for use with iPod touch and iPad. The mobile solution can integrate with existing POS infrastructure and supports most forms of payment acceptance, including NFC and EMV, in addition to regular magnetic stripe credit and debit cards. PAYware Mobile Enterprise works with all forms of electronic payment including magnetic stripe, chip and PIN, and contactless/NFC-enabled cards and phones.

Oak Bank Deploys Fiserv Account Processing and eBanking

Fiserv announced that Chicago-based Oak Bank has implemented its “Premier” bank platform and outsourced processing services. Oak Bank is also implementing Fiserv’s CheckFree® RXP® and CheckFree® Small Business for bill payment, Mobiliti™ for mobile banking, Business Online™ and Retail Online™ for online banking, Branch Source Capture™ and Merchant Source Capture™ for check capture, Business Process Manager for new account and process management, Fiserv® Clearing Network for image exchange and solutions for debit card processing. Mobiliti will give the bank robust mobile banking and payments functionality across a range of devices and networks. Retail Online and Business Online will provide the bank’s consumer and corporate customers with real-time account information, financial management tools and anytime, anywhere online banking.

Smart Payment Cards to Ship in Excess of 2.8B Units in 2017

EMV/smart payment card volumes increase with Latin America a particular migration hot spot in 2012, the U.S.’s impending move to EMV, and China’s migration to its PBOC 2.0 standard. Collectively these regions shipped in excess of 330 million smart payment cards in 2011, forecast to increase to over 1.5 billion in 2017. The U.S. now looks certain to migrate, although no official nationwide mandate has been set, mandates in liability shift from Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover all support the adoption of EMV. Financial institutions in the region have been quick to react with approximately 19 to date committing to EMV migration. Citibank Launches Electronic ATM Receipts

Citibank announced a new paperless solution, allowing electronic ATM receipts delivered to a designated personal email account. Currently available on all Citibank branch ATMs, this eliminates the need for paper receipts and provides an easy way to track ATM transactions. Customers who make deposits and withdrawals through Citibank’s branch ATMs will find the new option on the transaction record screen. Customers can have their receipt emailed to a personal email address; printed with a copy of a check; print receipt without a copy of the check(s); or have no receipt.

Regions Bank launched apps for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, upgrading its mobile experience with faster products and a streamlined user experience. EZ-Link Deploys Wirecard NFC Payments

EZ-Link card issuer is now using Wirecard Group’s mobile top-up service via its NFC mobile application, letting consumers to make NFC payments at the POS. Wirecard supports the process for consumers to conveniently add money to their EZ-Link purse on the go, simply using their NFC-enabled phone. EZ-Link has issued more than 12 million CEPAS-compliant cards, which is a contact-free e-Purse application. All cardholders with MasterCard “rePower”-enabled prepaid cards can now reload their cards at more than 45,000 Western Union Agent locations. With this, MasterCard now has the largest open reload network in the U.S. with over 100,000 locations while its “rePower” network is open to any MasterCard issuer of reloadable prepaid card programs. The partnership made MasterCard the preferred brand for Western Union-sponsored prepaid programs around the world and Western Union the preferred money-transfer provider for MasterCard.

MoneyGram Partners Gemalto on mMoney Transfers

MoneyGram and Gemalto digital security partnered to launch MoneyGram services on Gemalto’s “LinqUs Mobile Money” solution.
