Discover Bank Provides Jobs for Military Vets

Discover Bank and Delaware’s Congressional Delegation of U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons and Congressman John Carney recognized the first group of employees to join a new Discover work-at-home jobs program for military personnel and their family members at a ceremony today at Dover Air Force Base. Discover’s work-at-home program provides training, resources and job opportunities for new employees seeking careers within the financial services industry. In addition to training, Discover supplies each new employee with the proper equipment and installation support to ensure a successful working environment at home. The new employees’ work will be coordinated out of Discover’s New Castle call center. State of Washington Selects TIO for Payment Network

TIO Networks announced its partnership with the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services and payment processor Paymentus to assist residents in paying State bills anywhere in the country. TIO will provide self-service kiosks and clerk-assisted software at key retail locations in the State, as well as on TIO’s existing network of approximately 57,000 locations throughout the U.S. for customers to make child support payments. Paymentus was built exclusively for the self-service channels (Web, IVR, Recurring), making it cost effective and easier for customers to pay bills. The company specializes in offering solutions for recurring, scheduled and one-time payments with patent-pending, real-time technology.

Chase Names CEO of Merchant Services

JPMorgan Chase announced that Mike Passilla has been named chief executive officer of Merchant Services to oversee Chase’s growing payments and merchant services business including Chase Paymentech, Chase’s merchant offers business, as well as Chase’s recently-announced merchant payments initiative. Passilla has been a leader in the field of payments and technology for 23 years and joins Chase from Elavon payments processing, where he most recently served as president and CEO. Meanwhile, Dan Charron was named president of Chase Paymentech, the global payment processing and merchant acquiring business of JPMorgan Chase, and will report to Passilla. Since March, Charron has been the acting head of Chase Paymentech and prior to that served as the head of Client Services.

NCR Expands Interactive Video Banking Program

Conestoga Bank is expanding its interactive video banking program with NCR Corporation. Available through “uGenius,” which NCR purchased in January 2013, the partnership allows the bank to install two additional personal teller machines (PTMs) into their new Bankwerx at Gateway branch in Wayne, Pa. Conestoga Bank’s PTMs connect bank customers to a live, remote teller via a two-way video/audio conversation over an ATM. The remote tellers have full control of ATM functions, creating an interactive experience in which customers can complete more than 95 percent of typical branch transactions and do them faster – with transaction times typically 33 percent faster than an average teller interaction.

Handpoint mobile payments launched its new Chip and PIN mPOS system for small, medium and enterprise merchants, making available to any merchant a simple and secure way to accept Chip and PIN card payments with a mobile device. MasterCard Deploys Kalixa Acquirer Card Testing

Perpetuating a six-year partnership, MasterCard selected the Kalixa Group to issue a version of its award winning Kalixa Pay prepaid card to every newly accredited acquirer for testing. The card enables live testing of MasterCard acceptance – including online and PayPass transactions – to ensure a simple, seamless and secure integration process for every new acquirer joining the MasterCard network. The Kalixa prepaid card, allows testing in live-mode across any kind of payment acceptance including POS, ATM, stand alone and integrated terminals. Foreign currency transactions, and Chip and PIN authentication capabilities can also be tested using the card. Additionally, the Kalixa card will be used during MasterCard’s Acquirer-End-to-End-Demonstration (AETED) service, delivered by MasterCard accredited service providers to acquirers.

The Logic Group Payment Service Provider announced its “Solve DataShield” Point to Point Encryption (P2PE) app is the first in the world to be accredited by the Payments Card Industry Security Standards Council. The Logic Group builds on its success in enabling merchants to significantly improve the security across all their channels and continues to drive and influence the payment service industry. PCI P2PE accredited Solve DataShield encrypts cardholder data within the PIN Entry Device’s secure processor before passing it across a merchant’s estate for onward processing of the payment. Net Element Turns Up mPayment Technologies Investment

Net Element International electronic commerce and mobile payment processing entered into an investor accreditation agreement to develop new technology with The Skolkovo Foundation, a government funded research and development center in Moscow. This multi-year and multimillion dollar investment allocation by Net Element provides exclusive access to early stage mobile payments and transactional services technology. Net Element will set aside up to $12 million (370 mln Rub) over the next three years with Skolkovo for investment in companies and technologies that meet NETE’s investment criteria and strategic initiatives. The role of The Skolkovo Foundation is to oversee the creation of the Skolkovo Innovation Center comprising five R&D clusters (IT, Space, Biomed, Energy Efficiency and Nuclear Technology), Technopark, the Skolkovo Institute of Technology (a new graduate research university established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Skolkovo City.
