CyberSource announced availability of a new native C# component designed to simplify integration of CyberSource electronic payment processing services into a Web services environment built with Microsoft .NET technologies. The native C# component gives businesses fast access to CyberSource’s leading payment and fraud detection services, as well as geolocation, tax calculation, and export compliance. The CyberSource Payment service works behind the scenes to authorize and settle electronic payments, including credit, debit and procurement card and electronic check transactions, through built-in connections with third-party processors and merchant banks.

WebPayService

FL-based PSCU Financial Services announced the release of “WebPayService” for credit unions. The new service can be offered to CU members with no upfront cost. PSCU implements the credit union-branded site in less than 30 days. And to help the credit union promote the service, the company provides collateral marketing support materials, including inserts, posters, and newsletter articles. To-date, twelve credit unions have implemented “WebPayService.”

U. S. Wireless Data and PepsiAmericas are deploying Pepsi vending machines in Chicago that accept credit cards. Initial plans will place as many as 80 new machines at Navy Pier and Woodfield Mall. The machines are an expansion of the wireless vending initiative that Pepsi started in Memphis last January. It addition to providing more options for payment, the new technology also connects vending machines to a wireless network, allowing the Pepsi bottler to go online and view real-time vending machine status. USWD now handles more than 600 million transactions each year through its centralized computer center and nationwide network.

CELLBUCKS USA

Ontario-based CellBucks has launched a new program that enables sports fans to order and pay for food and beverages from their cell phones and have it all delivered right to their seats. The company has sealed its first deal with the Bowie (Maryland) Baysox and Ovations Food Services, the concessionaire at Prince George’s Stadium in Maryland. The new CellBucks payment system is compatible with any type of cell phone on any cellular service provider’s network. The new service will be available for fans seated in reserved or field box seats of the stadium. Users need to visit the CellBucks Web site to register and provide some basic information and a credit card number. Members will instantly be given a personal pass code for immediate use of the service. CellBucks says it is partnering with major restaurant chains to provide efficient ordering for home delivery and drive-through. The service will enable consumers to access menus online and pay via cell phone. Patrick Bird is the founder, president and CEO of the new firm. Bird was the founder and former CEO of Isolation Systems Limited, and developed and deployed first commercial VPN in partnership with Cisco Systems.

Canadian Tire 2Q/02

Canadian Tire Financial Services reported that its “Project Accelerate” program to convert retail credit accounts to “Options MasterCard” continues to drive receivables growth. Approximately 230,000 new “Options MasterCards” have been issued so far this year. The number of Canadian Tire MasterCard accounts increased to 2 million by the end of the second quarter, up 57.3% from the end of the same period last year. At the end of the second quarter, gross credit card receivables at CTFS were $1.6 million, a 31.4% improvement over the comparable quarter last year. “Options MasterCard” receivables grew by 113.2% due primarily to higher sales and average balances from the conversion program. At the end of 2Q/02, MasterCard receivables represented 78.4% of the total credit charge receivables. During the balance of 2002, the final group of qualifying retail card accounts will be converted to MasterCard and all in-store account acquisition programs will be converted from retail card to MasterCard. In this wave of conversions, approximately 186,000 additional retail card accounts and $56 million of retail credit charge receivables are expected to be converted to MasterCard. GEMPLUS CRM

Gemplus Support Technology Labs has gone live with the first phase of the implementation of Onyx Software Corp.’s CRM solution. Although the initial rollout took place in Germany and France, Gemplus plans to eventually implement the Onyx CRM solution at 37 worldwide sites, including China, Singapore and the United States. Gemplus says Onyx was chosen as the system of choice because of its ability to offer a Web-based platform for the .NET solution. Gemplus also says the company needed a system to provide a holistic view of all customer support and service interactions, enabling each business unit to log and track support incidents. In addition, the software needed to be easy to tailor, easy to use and easy to understand for support personnel, as well as include the capability to use the secure Internet as a standardized data communication infrastructure.

BMO Bank of Montreal has signed a long-term agreement to continue its relationship with The Loyalty Group for the “AIR MILES Reward Program.”More than 60% of Canadian households actively
collect “AIR MILES” reward miles at more than 100 sponsors representing over 12,000 retail and service locations across Canada. “AIR MILES” reward miles can be redeemed for more than 300 different rewards, such
as travel, movie passes, entertainment attractions, and electronic merchandise. BMO has had a 10-year relationship with The Loyalty Group, an Alliance Data Systems subsidiary. BMO was an original sponsor in the program which began in 1992. Last year, BMO Bank of Montreal introduced a “Small Business Banking Program” featuring “AIR MILES” reward miles.

iPad

Dallas-based Fujitsu Transaction Solutions has partnered with MN-based Direct Source to market the recently introduced “iPAD” for wireless technology applications in large retail environments. Under other terms of the agreement, Direct Source, also will resell Fujitsu’s “TeamPad 7510” and “TeamPad 500” mobile devices for U.S. and Canadian retailers. Direct Source will add value by deploying solutions that include consulting, hardware and software integration, project management and wireless infrastructure services. Fujitsu’s iPAD, announced in January, is a Microsoft Windows CE .NET-based mobile device that integrates multiple technologies combining scanner, magnetic- and smart-card reader, keypad with encryption capabilities, even in-store telephony capability. The 11-oz iPAD features a bright, color touch-screen.

Tradera.com, Scandinavia’s largest Internet-based auction site, has integrated PayPal into its site. This is the first Swedish online auction site to offer PayPal’s secure payment method. Tradera generates over 50,000 transactions monthly. Tradera has over 115,000 active auctions and more than 217,000 members. PayPal has more than 17 million member accounts worldwide in 38 countries.

Bentley Buys Kryptosima

Bentley Communications it has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire GA-based Kryptosima, a firm engaged in the business of providing software and online Internet transaction delivery services that enable financial transactions via the Internet using ATM, debit and credit cards. Kryptosima was launched in January 2000 to develop new Internet payment methods. Kryptosima’s payment gateway service, payENKRYPT, is the first system designed to enable ATM card transactions over the Internet.

MasterCard International this morning announced a promotion to expand acceptance merchant locations in the USA for its “Maestro” PIN-based debit brand. The “Maestro” brand mark appears on more than 445 million cards worldwide and is accepted for purchases at over 6 million merchant terminals in 87 countries and territories and at more than 790,000 MasterCard/Maestro/Cirrus ATMs worldwide. From Sept. 1st through Nov. 30th, the Maestro acceptance promotion will target key shopping, travel, and entertainment destinations for traveling cardholders, including California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, and Washington. The centerpiece of the sales drive is an acquirer contest in which acquirer sales representatives will have an opportunity to win prizes for signing up the most new Maestro acceptance locations. The grand prize for the top salesperson overall is a new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan. The top salesperson in each state will win a bonus prize: a $5,000 Maestro prepaid card.
