Experian launched “Collection Triggers” which enables clients to proactively monitor accounts for public record, civil action, tradeline and demographic events to help prioritize and segment their collection strategies. Collection Triggers is a robust and flexible collections solution that monitors a company’s portfolio of collections accounts. When new information on one of these accounts becomes available, indicating the possibility of recovering the debt, the organization is notified within 24 hours and can then resume efforts to contact the consumer and collect the outstanding debt. It allows clients to proactively monitor accounts for public record, civil action, tradeline and demographic events to help prioritize and segment their collection strategies.

BofA Begins Offering MBNA Affinity Cards

Bank of America has launched online sales of more than 200 affinity credit cards for certain sports, universities and charities in what is the first major integration of MBNA offerings. For the first time, consumers can sign up for certain MBNA cards at bankofamerica.com. Throughout the year, more cards will be integrated into bankofamerica.com, and the cards will roll out to Bank of America banking centers. Bank of America Card Services has more than 40 million active accounts and nearly $140 billion in managed balances. Bankofamerica.com has more than 1.6 billion visits annually and is one of the top 50 U.S.-based Web sites in terms of unique visitors.

Clydesdale Bank and Prepay to Launch Mastercard

Clydesdale Bank has joined with PrePay Technologies to
create, deliver and service prepaid MasterCard debit cards for a wide
range of applications. The alliance has already resulted in the launch
of the Western Union Travel Cash Card. The product is a secure, pre-paid
and reloadable cash card available in euros, US dollars and sterling,
which is protected by a personal PIN and is available at independent
travel agents or can be ordered online. PrePay Technologies designs and
delivers host-based stored-value card solutions including prepaid debit,
retail gift, corporate incentive and insurance claim cards.

ANA VISA

Dah Sing Bank and Prestige International have teamed with All Nippon
Airways to launch a co-branded “VISA Platinum” credit card. ANA says the
card is especially good news for those Japanese expatriates who often
face difficulties when newly acquiring a credit card in Hong Kong, a
process which can be long and drawn out or even result in rejection.
Applicants for the card will be awarded a 5,000 mile bonus, in addition
to which they can gain a further 5,000 miles for their first ANA
operated flight between Hong Kong and Tokyo, up to December 31, 2006.
ANA cardholders are also entitled to discounts of up to 20% on
rooms at ANA Hotels – plus complimentary breakfast and welcome drink at
ANA Hotels in Japan – and a 10% discount on selected duty free items and
goods on sale at ANA Duty Free shops, airport shops and ANA Hotel shops.
As well as receiving one mile will be awarded for every eight Hong Kong
dollars spent, customers will also be able to accrue mileage when using
Octopus electronic money. ANA is now one of the 10 largest airlines in
the world.

Ohio-based Fifth Third Processing has acquired IN-based Card Management Corporation for an undisclosed price. Formed in 1988, CMC, headquartered in Evansville, is a provider of services to financial institutions and retailers for credit card, debit card, merchant and private label programs. They operate a second multi-lingual contact center in Tucson. More than 127,000 financial institutions and merchant locations partner with Fifth Third. Processing Solutions, a division of Fifth Third Bank, processes more than 17 billion ATM, POS and e-commerce transactions per year and drives more than 12,400 ATMs.

Chase Launches the Herbalife VISA

Chase and Herbalife have teamed to offer a co-branded VISA card. The new “Herbalife VISA” offers two points for every dollar spent on Herbalife purchases and one point for every dollar spent on all other card purchases. Every time a cardholder accumulates 2,500 points, a $25 credit is automatically applied towards future purchases of Herbalife products. The program is available to Herbalife independent distributors in the U.S. Herbalife products are sold in 60 countries through a network of more than one million independent distributors.

Americans Are Direct Deposit Ignorant

A new survey, sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Federal Reserve Banks, has found that 62% of Americans said that a paper check with your name on it can only be cashed if you sign or endorse it. Nearly half of those polled said direct deposit of payments like wages, salary or government benefits go through the Internet to be deposited into your account. The Treasury says it receives half a million calls a year from people reporting problems with Treasury checks. The Treasury also noted that it’s 30 times more likely to have a problem with a Treasury check than with direct deposit. The survey was released to promote the “Go Direct” campaign.

Wells Fargo Q4 Card Loans Rise 16%

Wells Fargo Card Services and Wells Fargo Financial Bank reported fourth quarter outstandings of $10.3 billion, a 16% increase over the same period one-year ago. Fourth quarter card volume rose 39% for Wells Fargo Financial Bank and about 17.5% for Wells Fargo Card Services. Combined, Wells Fargo Card Services and Wells Fargo Financial Bank reported 4Q/05 volume of $6.16 billion. At the end of the fourth quarter, Wells Fargo Financial Bank had 719,989 active accounts. Wells Fargo Card Services had 3,802,159 active accounts.
