Fiserv’s Integrated Cash Operations Modules has been selected by Alaska USA FCU to optimize its cash supply chain. By selecting the end-to-end iCom Web-based cash management solution, the credit union can potentially reduce its cash flow and transportation costs by 20 to 40%. Implemented as an ASP solution, iCom will provide the credit union with a centralized system for cash ordering and confirmation. iCom solution can also easily add modules to support invoice reconciliation, business intelligence, and ATM asset management and profitability. It provides pre-emptive cash shortage alerts to improve service levels and reduce transportation costs by reducing cash handling and consolidating cash orders. iCom also provides a complete audit trail to assist with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements. MASTERCARD & TJX

MasterCard has partnered with TJX to provide its issuers with an
“Alternative Recovery Program” in lieu of the latter’s recent data breach.
With this development, TJX will provide up to $24 million to support the
program to settle claims made by MasterCard’s card issuers to recover
costs and losses resulting from the breach for those that filed claims,
contingent upon acceptance. These issuers, however, must agree not to
seek or participate in any other recoveries that may be available to
issuers,
releasing the said acquirers from all legal and financial liability
associated
with the aforementioned data breach and have 30 days from the date of the
Settlement Agreement (April 2, 2008) to decide whether or not to opt-in
to the “Alternative Recovery Program”.

The MasterCard Foundation Names a New CEO

The MasterCard Foundation announced the appointment of Reeta Roy as president and CEO. She joins the Foundation with experience in global philanthropy, health policy and corporate social responsibility. The mission of the MasterCard Foundation, which has an endowment of more than $2 billion, is to broaden access to the global economy through innovative microfinance programs and to increase access to quality educational opportunities for youth worldwide. Roy, who grew up in Malaysia, has lived in China and worked in Africa, Asia and other developing countries to create programs related to global health, education, women’s rights, and other issues.

Global Cash Access Closes on Certegy Deal

Global Cash Access has closed the acquisition of Certegy Gaming Services from Fidelity National Transaction Services. GCA acquired all of CGS’s issued shares of stock for a purchase price of $25 million. CGS is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of GCA. As part of the acquisition, GCA will replace all of the cash that was held in CGS’s ATM machines and booths at its customer locations. GCA provides nearly 1,000 gaming properties worldwide with technology and services. CGS provides similar cash access services to approximately 130 gaming properties in the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Harris Introduces a Corporate MasterCard

Harris has introduced its “Corporate MasterCard” targeting $10 million-$250 million annual revenue businesses. The new card product has been designed to grow with its business client’s revenues and provides cost-saving advantages over a technology platform to facilitate administrative functions. Additionally, the new services will be available 24/7 through Harris’ Online services, which includes account information reporting and card program management. Harris integrated financial services provides over 1 million customers financial products and service through more than 230 branches and its nearly 600 ATMs throughout the USA.

HID Global and DemoTeller Systems have partnered for the distribution
and instant issuance of HID’s non-embossed financial cards at financial
institutions. This allows the account holders to use the card immediately
after opening an account with DemoTeller’s “TRISM software”, which
provides application host and client modules, and HID’s “Fargo HDPii”
instant issuance flat card printer. Implementing Fargo’s patented “High
Definition Printing” (HDP) technology, cards can be produced, on-site,
at the bank branch. HID Global provides Secure Identity solutions, has
over 2,000 employees and customers in more than 100 countries while
DemoTeller Systems has deployed over 30,000 PIN Selection and

California CU Offers Card Personalization

CA-based Wescom Credit Union announced the addition of “IMAGINE THAT! Picture Card Program” feature to its credit cards and check cards. Wescom Members can design their credit cards and check cards by uploading a photo through eBranch, the credit union’s online banking platform. They can also choose from an extensive gallery of images. Once the member’s photo is approved, the card is mailed to the member in seven to 10 days. The $9.95 fee is waived for Wescom Signature Members’ first IMAGINE THAT! credit card and check card.

Simba Technology has implemented ACI Worldwide’s “BASE24” and “Proactive
Risk Manager” to provide banks and customers with e-payment services
across
eastern Africa. Simba will be hosting the electronic payments hub for

providing payment card issuance, card account management, ATM and POS
terminal driving, transaction acquiring, and fraud monitoring. These banks

the latter’s auto resolution with the former’s decision management
solutions for the detection of fraud. The combined deployment provides
clients with automated customer contact capabilities, which reduce costs
associated with customer contact center operations, through channels
such as voice, email, SMS (Short Message Service), fax, and pagers for
whatever reason fraud was suspected. This bank service is available
immediately to Fair Isaac customers and takes advantage of standard
application programming interfaces between the companies’ data systems
and applications for fast implementation.
