Threshold Financial Technologies and the Credit Union Central of British
Columbia have signed Debit Card & ATM Processing agreements. In
doing so, Threshold will be providing its C2C (Coast to Coast) node
gateway solution in April, 2009, allowing B.C. and other Canadian credit
unions access to Canadian payment networks, debit card and ATM
processing services. C2C volumes currently push 270 million transactions
annually and is projected to oversee 300 million transactions per annum
before
2010, 65% of which can be accounted for by B.C. credit unions. The Credit
Union Central of British Columbia is the central “umbrella organization”
facility to the province’s 48 independent credit unions, serves 1.6 million
members, has over $42 billion in assets while Threshold Financial
Technologies
has over 850 employees throughout North America and has relations with a
broad range of banks and credit unions.

CLAL CARD

Overseen and issued by Leumi Card management, Clal Financing has
unveiled its “Clal Card”. With this development, Clal adds to its already
existing consumer products, including mortgages and loans, and is being
launched in conjunction with Leumi’s “Leumi Card”. Clal provides
insurance to businesses and consumers across Israel.

Family Dollars Opts for VeriShield Protect

VeriFone will now supply discount retailer Family Dollar Stores its “VeriShield Protect” card security solution along with an order for VeriFone “MX830” customer-facing payment systems. “VeriShield Protect” shields credit and debit account information from the moment a card is swiped until the data is received at a decryption appliance located in a secure location for payment authorization. Family Dollar currently operates more than 6,500 stores in 44 states. VeriFone Holdings is a provider of secure electronic payment solutions.

Consumer Pessimism Continues to Spread

Pessimism among U. S. consumers continues to spread as Americans’ confidence in future personal financial conditions continue to weaken. However, consumer attitudes regarding current conditions and investments show signs of stabilizing. The latest “RBC CASH Index” (Consumer Attitudes and Spending by Household) dropped to an all-time low this month since its inception in 2002 to 29.5, compared to 33.1 in March. Each index fell to a record low in April with the exception of the Jobs Index, which was less than one point above its worst level registered in 2003 – when the economy was showing signs of stalling in its recovery from the 2001 recession.

Bringing together presenters from ecrime companies, research centers and
agencies from around the world, the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG)
Counter-eCrime Operations Summit (CeCOS II) will provide a forum in
which to address phishing and e-crime this May 26th and 27th. Delivering

GEMALTO & BESTCOMP

Gemalto and Bestcomp will be providing 3 million “Sealys” e-Healthcare
digital security microprocessor cards in Azerbaijan. The healthcare
smart card has been designed to provide citizens with social security
benefits, identification, transaction security, streamline
reimbursements and
will be full deployed by 2010. Bestcomp IT company will integrate the
project while Gemalto will deliver the microprocessor cards and
e-Government middleware. Gemalto digital security posted a 2007 annual
revenue of over EUR1.6 billion and employs nearly 10,000.

ARTEMA HYBRID TERMINAL

Hypercom has approved the more than 250,000 Artema Hybrid terminals in
Germany for compliance with Technical Appendix 7.0 specification from the
Central Credit Committee. These specifications have been implemented for a
nationwide migration to EMV chip card deployment, affording payment
terminals compatibility with core technical requirements of SEPA. Hypercom
designs electronic payment products and services to address the high
security
electronic transaction needs of businesses in more than 100 countries.

DIEBOLD 720 & 760 ATMS

Diebold will be deploying 143 of its Opteva 720 and 760 ATMs for the
Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL) with deposit automation capability for
the acceptance of bulk checks, cash deposits and the provision of efficient
services. This deployment will be complete by the second quarter of 2008,
allowing customers to complete transactions without entering the branch
and banks to focus on greater time management. This development is in
addition to the banks recent deployment of Diebold’s “Agilis Power”
software package, which allows BNL to manage 1,000 Web-based
ATMs from three different providers.

Wincor Nixdorf has launched its eServices.EFT outsourced retail
processing platform. Provides retailers with a shared
services model, eServices.EFT handles charge, credit, debit, store,
petroleum, loyalty, e-top-up and gift card processing from multiple
issuers.
The Wincor Nixdorf eServices.EFT solution software foundation is
scalable, flexible and PCI DSS compliant, providing a guideline for card
processors to prevent card fraud and hacking.
