GET Names New Senior Executives

Kevin Hoehn was promoted to president from COO and elected to the board
of Global Electronic Technology (GET), a technology provider of payment
processing solutions. Having held the position of COO at GET since 2003,
Hoehn previously held several executive level positions with such
financial institutions as Imperial Bank and Comerica Merchant Services.
His advanced education includes his undergraduate degree from the
University of California Riverside and an MBA from Pepperdine
University. GET also appointed Joe Bennett national sales director, who joins the company as a 25 year veteran in the sales/marketing industry. Organizations to which he has previously belonged include Patriot Merchant Services, American Bancard and will now oversee designing and implementation of training programs with GET.

ACCEL/Exchange Names a New GM

Fiserv’s ACCEL/Exchange Network has named
Michael J. Kelly, previously with ePayments, as General Manager. While
with ePayments Consulting Group, Kelly devised and implemented
innovative strategies to help financial institutions
capitalize on their debit portfolios to grow their non-interest income.
Prior to starting the company ePayments Consulting, Kelly worked for
Fiserv EFT as the director of Business Development for ACCEL/Exchange.
Kelly will direct Network rules management and operations by working
with the ACCEL/Exchange Advisory
Council and a staff of network specialists. In addition, he will have
sales oversight responsibility for merchant
(acceptance) processors and manage direct and indirect sales channel
development.

International ACH Transactions Reviewed

A new report has reviewed the challenges of implementing
international ACH transactions. Aite Group has released its report,
“International ACH
Transactions: United States Goes Global,” demonstrating the challenges
of implementing NACHA’s latest standard entry class code for the U.S.
automated clearing house (ACH) network, international ACH transaction
(IAT). Set for introduction on March 20, 2009 as the new standard entry
class code, IAT was designed to reduce exception processing and
eliminate the need for separate batches of international payment from
domestic payments. After having interviewed executives at 24 banks, one
credit union, four ACH system providers and the two ACH operators in
order to gauge preparedness for IAT, Aite Group discloses that 24% of
survey respondents lack confidence in their ability to process IATs by
NACHA’s deadline.

Metavante Technologies Up 7% in 2Q/08

Milwaukee-based Metavante Technologies posted a 7% increase in second
quarter revenue of $424.8 million. Net income for the quarter was $36.9
million. The Company’s Financial Solutions Group posted second quarter
revenue of $164.2 million, an increase of 6% compared to the second
quarter of 2007. Metavante’s Payment Solutions Group reported second
quarter revenue of $260.6 million, an increase of 8% year-on-year.

Payment processor Elavon has renewed its agreement to provide acquiring
services and payment solutions with Regency Hotel Management and
Affiliates American enterprise, which includes more than 50 owned and

properties in 9 states including Hilton, Radisson, Choice, Best Western
and ClubHouse. Elavon’s payment processing solutions for the

RapidAdvance has partnered with Humboldt Merchant Services to offer
small business merchants a cash advance solution for working capital
needed to expand their businesses. The cash advance solution allows
repayment from the borrowing business at an agreed upon percentage of
its future credit card receivables which is automatically transferred to
RapidAdvance until the contract obligation has been satisfied. The

Economic Confidence Rebounds for Small Biz

Economic confidence among small business owners rebounded in July as cash flow issues diminished. In fact, 33% say they have experienced cash flow issues over the last 90 days, a significant decrease from 42% in June. According to the Discover “Small Business Watch” monthly survey, 17% of small business owners think the U.S. economy is getting better, an increase from nine percent in June; 28% of owners say that economic conditions for their business are getting better, an increase from 23% in June; and 17% rated the economy as good or excellent, an increase from 12% in June. Approximately four-in-ten small business owners say that the nationwide downturn in the housing market has had a negative impact on their business, while 47% say it has not negatively affected them.The Discover “Small Business Watch” jumped in July to 84.6, up 12.8 points from 71.8 in June.

Visa has installed 55 blue and white porcelain tourist information kiosks throughout Beijing to provide multilingual
information services to cardholders and international visitors traveling
to China for the “Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.” The kiosks are found at
the Beijing Capital International Airport, Olympic venues and key
tourist and shopping areas and coordinate with Olympic-themed Visa ATMs found in the City. Upon arrival at BCIA’s newly-constructed Terminal 3, a Visa kiosk will greet international visitors with information related to Olympic events and venues, tourist attractions and Beijing’s public transportation facilities during the Games. In addition to the kiosk found at Terminal 3, Visa has installed kiosks throughout BCIA offering information about on-site emergency services should they lose their Visa card or need medical assistance. Visa also created the “Visa
Olympic Games Passport,” an easy-reference travel guide. The passport
includes tips and recommendations to help cardholders get the most out
of their journey to Beijing.

Online Resources Inks Three Major Deals

Three undisclosed U.S. card issuers have signed multi-year agreements
with Online Resources for the deployment of the organization’s web-based
collections services. The card issuers will implement Online Resources’
“Virtual Collection Agent” for domestic credit card portfolios,
providing account holders a private way to resolve delinquency and 24×7
online customer service collection to offer flexibility, payment
processing capabilities, and consumer analytics with payment plan
offers. Given this, the “Virtual Collection Agent” has reduced credit
card charge-offs by over 10% while these new agreements represent the
addition of the three newly signed companies to eight other top U.S. 20
card issuers. Online resources serves over 10 million end-users and
processes $100 billion in bill payments annually.

RAHAXI MANAGED NETWORK

Rahaxi Processing has signed agreements with Natixis Paiements as the
processor of choice for transactions of the more than 1.5 billion China
Unionpay (CUP) cards currently in circulation. Specifically, Natixis
Paiements has deployed the “Rahaxi Managed Network” option to allow
merchants an automated secure key exchange protocol for message, PIN
encryption and an on-line real-time local connection point for Acquiring
Banks onto the China Unionpay network. Reflecting the significance of
this development, there were nearly 700 thousand Chinese visitors to
France in 2007 alone. Natixis has operations in 68 countries through
more than 120 branches worldwide to generate a net banking income of
EUR7,322,000 and a net income of EUR 2,158,000.

Northwest Airlines has added PayPal’s “Pay Later” feature, allowing
passengers to book flights and defer payment for 90 days. When tickets
are purchased on nwa.com, the Paypal “Pay Later” application can be
completed in 30 seconds, instantly provides qualified consumers access
to credit, allows travelers to complete payments on a timeline that fits
their budgets and is even available to those who don’t have PayPal
accounts. Paypal is an eBay company, provides over 63 million active
accounts in 190 markets and 19 currencies while Northwest Airlines
operates approximately 2,400 daily departures to over 1,000 cities in
more than 160 countries and has been offering PayPal payment options
since June 2007.
