PrivatBank has expanded its self-service distribution channel, having
purchased 3,100 ATMs for deployment in the Ukraine, Russia, Georgia,
Cyprus and Latvia. This development is in conjunction with the bank’s
announcement of plans to test the use of ATM-based marketing as part of
a pilot project to equip 100 of the units with “ProView” monitoring
software. “ProView”connects the ATMs with the bank’s IT management
center to allow PrivatBank to monitor its systems online, around the
clock and maintain maximum availability of the self-service network.
PrivatBank has issued a total of 16.6 million bank cards to its
customers, operates 2,910 bank branches and has a network comprising
4,700 ATMs.

E-commerce provider Devix has partnered with CardinalCommerce to provided access to
CardinalCommerce’s “Cardinal Centinel” universal merchant platform.
Through this partnership, eCommerce businesses running Devix’s newest
platform have quick access to the authentication programs Verified by Visa
and MasterCard SecureCode, as well as the alternative payment brand “Bill Me

TSYS’ Second Quarter Revenues Increase 5%

TSYS reported second quarter revenues of $483.1 million, an increase of
5.0% year-on-year. However, net income for the quarter deceased 4% to
$63.1 million. Electronic payment processing services revenue for the
quarter slipped by 1% to $242.4 million and merchant acquiring services
revenue rose 2%. Sequentially, merchant acquiring services revenues
increased 6.3%. Other services revenue for the second quarter was $64.4
million, an increase of 16.9% over 2Q/07. For the second quarter total
revenues for the Global Services
segment were $79.6 million, an increase of 31.9% for the same period
last year. Year-to-date total revenues for the Global Services segment
were $149.0 million, an increase of 28.9%, compared to $115.5 million
for the same period last year. During the quarter TSYS renewed a
long-term agreement with Target to service its “REDcard” portfolio;
renewed a multi-year agreement with Canadian Tire Financial
Services to exclusively process its payment cards programs; signed a
payments processing agreement with Mexico’s Globalcard for the launch of
its consumer credit card portfolio; and announced an agreement with
PartnersFirst Affinity Services to process its consumer credit card

VeriFone has partnered with Bank Asya to deploy a joint transportation
payment system in Turkey, combining multimedia payment display and
contactless acceptance with WiFi and GPRS Communications. Already in use
in the Kahramanmaras area, the newly designed transportation payment
system allows municipalities to transition their bus systems from cash
to bank cards and credit cards for the acceptance of EMV cards and
contactless technology through Bank Asya-issued payment cards for
settlement. The payment cards operate on the MasterCard “PayPass”
contactless platform for compatibility with VeriFone “MX870” multimedia
payment system, “QX110” contactless reader and cellular GPRS for mobile
communications. Bank Asya Turkish bank has issued over 1million credit
cards and provides banking services through its network of 124 Bank Asya
branches while VeriFone Holdings provides its client organizations with
secure electronic payment solutions.

PlasticNow to Offer Gemalto’s CardLikeMe

Gemalto will provide its “CardLikeMe” service to
PlasticNow, giving consumers the flexibility to customize their
prepaid MasterCard with photos. Cardholders connect
to the “PlasticNow” Web site, upload images directly from their computer
and order their card instantly online and used editing features to ensure that their card is
personalized to their exact specifications. “PlasticNow” is a provider of prepaid card solutions
through an issuing partnership with Peoples Trust
Company. “CardLikeMe” is a turnkey solution that includes Web services and
associated secure printing services. It is easily integrated into the
card issuer environment, with each screen customized to their
specifications.

FISERV ONLINE SOLUTIONS

Umpqua Bank has deployed Fiserv online financial and payment services
for its customers. Fiserv is to provide the bank with its “CheckFree Web
RXP,” “Corillian Consumer Banking,” “Corillian Family Banking” and
“Corillian Personal Money Manager” solutions to enhance online user
service. These agreements expand on a relationship between the
organizations that began in 1990 and is in addition to agreements with
the bank for the deployment of the “Fiserv EFT” debit/ATM card solution.
Umpqua Bank is worth nearly $8.3 billion and is headquartered in Oregon
while Fiserv provides online banking services to its more than 250,000
customers and reported nearly $4 billion in total revenue from
continuing operations in 2007.

Visa’s Q2 Payments Volume Rises 19% Y/Y

Visa reported second calender quarter net income of $422 million and net operating revenue of $1.6 billion. Payments volume grew 19% over the prior year to $652 billion and total volume, inclusive of cash volume was $1.0 trillion, rose 22% over the prior year. Also, total cards carrying the Visa brands rose 14% worldwide to 1.6 billion over the prior year; and total payment transactions increased by 15% over the prior year to 10.7 billion. Total processed transactions were 9.5 billion, a 13% increase over the prior year. Additionally, service fees were $749 million, up 13% over the prior year on a pro forma basis. Visa projects that for 2009 and 2010 annual net revenue growth of 11% to 15%. Plus, annual free cash flow excess of $1 billion. EnXnet MultiMedia Gift Card Gets Set

TX-based EnXnet has received a modified mold required for the
manufacture of the MultiMedia Gift Card. The mold was
returned to the European producer several weeks ago for some very slight
and technical adjustments. The mold is being placed on the
manufacturing line and new cards will be produced over the next few
days. This product will be sent to the main
retailers and clientele that are requesting cards for placement into
their outlets.

OPTIMUM T4210

Hypercom Corporation’s “Optimum T4210” card payment terminal has been
awarded Saudi Payments Network (SPAN2) certification by the Saudi
Arabian Monetary Agency making it the only high security electronic
transaction solutions provider offering both SPAN1 (old switch) and
SPAN2 (new switch) compliant terminals in the country. These
developments are part of on-going development efforts by Hypercom’s
distributor Alhamrani Universal Company banking and payment systems to
expand the organization’s presence throughout the country. The “T4210”
country-specific terminal software application is also TIP (Terminal
Integration Process) and ADVT (Acquirer Device Validation Toolkit)

Credit card outstandings rose in June by GBP 439 million to a total of
GBP 55.4 billion. Year-on-year credit card outstandings (not seasonally
adjusted) were up slightly less than 4%. According to the The Bank of
England, the increase in total net lending to individuals in June was
below the increase in May and the previous six-month average. The
twelve-month growth rate slowed further, to 7.4%, and the three-month
annualised growth rate fell by 1.1 percentage points to 4.5%. Within the
total, the increase in net lending secured on dwellings (GBP 3.1
billion) was below the increase in May and the previous six-month
average. The twelve-month growth rate slowed further, to 7.5%. The
three-month annualised growth rate fell by 1.2 percentage points to
4.3%. The increase in net consumer credit in June (GBP 0.9 billion) was
below that in May and the previous six-month average. Net other loans
and advances increased by GBP 0.4 billion, also lower than the May
increase. The annual growth rate of consumer credit slowed by 0.2
percentage points to 6.8%; the three-month annualised growth rate fell
by 0.6 percentage points to 5.7%.
