GuestLogix on-board retail systems for airlines has signed agreements to
integrate its “Mobile Virtual Store” with the Thales “TopSeries”
Inflight Entertainment System. Now users can conduct on-board
redemption for Thales entertainment services, such as movies and video
games, through the GuestLogix “Concierge” secure identification which
uses codes to minimize fraud with out a POS. The travelers can pre-pay
for on-board entertainment services online, for which they are issued a
“Concierge” code to input through using the virtual keypad on the touch
screen. The entertainment transactions also allow for refunds in the
event of partial/non-fulfillment of service. Thales employs 68,000,
22,000 of which are R&D engineers, in 50 countries and had 2007 revenues
of EUR12.3 billion.

PAYMENT SUITE

The BORN Group network of merchants and brands has signed a five year
payment and joint marketing agreement with NETELLER online payments for
the exclusive use of a version of its “Payment Suite.” The “Payments
Suite” will be extended for the use of the 1 million BORN Group network
members worldwide through its “BornForSports” and its BORN Group
marketplace platform. This “Payment Suite” includes the “NETBANX”
international payments gateway, the NETELLER “e-wallet” and “Net+”
cards. Testing is currently underway for the implementation of the
NETBANX payment gateway to replace the previous proprietary in-house
payment processing system for the BORN Group online marketplace sites.
Serving consumers and merchants in over 160 countries for which it
manages billions of dollars annually, the NETELLER Group operates its
independent online payments business through its collection of brands.

GPN & ZAO

Atlanta-based Global Payments has inked a deal to acquire Moscow-based ZAO United Card Service. UCS provides indirect
payment processing services to over 70 financial institutions and for
over 2,500 ATMs in Russia. In December, UCS entered into a ten-year
marketing alliance agreement with Rosbank, which provides UCS with Visa
and MasterCard bank sponsorship. Rosbank, along with over 40 other
financial institutions in the Russian Federation, also provides agent
bank processing referrals to UCS under this agreement. Under the terms
of the agreement, GPN will pay $120 million in cash to acquire UCS.
According to CardFlash international, UCS produced $34.2 million in
revenue last year with approximately one half of the revenues from the
company’s direct acquiring operations.

National Credit Ed Bus Tour Set to Take-Off

The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, Consumer Education Foundation, TD AMERITRADE and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine have taken it upon themselves to launch a
national bus tour to deliver free personal financial education. Slated to kick-off on September 29th Jersey City, NJ, the “Your Money Bus Tour” will travel from coast-to-coast for one-year. At each stop, volunteer financial advisors will be on hand to conduct free advice events and symposiums. TD AMERITRADE is providing the primary financial support of the bus while Kiplinger’s is providing promotional support for the program in both its magazine and Website properties.

Saylent Board Adds an Industry Heavyweight

MA-based payment intelligence provider Saylent Technologies has
appointed Gary Heatherington, previously with Cyota, to its board of
directors. Heatherington has 32 years of international
management and leadership experience in financial services, payment
systems, e-commerce, retail and manufacturing. He was most recently CEO
at Cyota Inc., an electronic payments technology company. Before that,
he was CEO and President of Bank One Canada, was Executive Vice
President with MasterCard International and held executive positions at
National Trust Company and Bank of Montreal. He has also held a number
of directorships with financial companies including First Data,
RewardsNOW, Visa Canada and many other organizations.

JULY CB INDEX

The Japan leading index decreased by .5% while the coincident index also
decreased .2% for the month of July 2008, according to the Conference
Board. The leading index’ decline is consistent with a 4.2% decline
since January and is a direct result of falling stock prices, real money
supply, business conditions and real operating profits. Meanwhile, the
coincident index decline is consistent with the 1.7% drop over the
preceding 6 months and is mostly thanks to employment, wage and salary

Allpoint Network Adds 7-Eleven ATMs

Allpoint Network has expanded its
surcharge-free ATM access by adding ATM locations at more than 5,500
7-Eleven stores to its portfolio. 7-Eleven joins other leading brands
such as Target, CVS, Walgreens, and Costco in featuring Allpoint Network
surcharge-free access. Allpoint, a division of Cardtronics, is “America’s Largest
Surcharge-Free ATM Network” with 32,000 ATMs in leading national and
regional merchant locations across the country.

TD Retail Card Services Lands Card Deal

NJ-based TD Retail Card Services has acquired the private label credit
card program of InterTan Canada which operates under the banner of “The
Source By Circuit City.” TD Retail Card Services, formerly known as
Shoppers Charge Accounts, says it will add a customer loyalty program,
“Source Rewards,” to the Canadian under which cardholders will have the
opportunity to earn reward certificates. TD says it will also offer a
variety of special financing options, including three-, six- and
12-month deferred payment plans, as well as a 16-month deferred payment
plan during special promotions. According to CardFlash International,
the card will be distributed through 775 corporate stores and dealer
outlets throughout Canada and online. TD Retail Card Services is a
division of TD Banknorth.

VeriFone’s Quarterly Revenues Climb 12%

VeriFone reported that its net revenue for the quarter ended July 31st
climbed 12% to nearly $259 million. The electronic payment solutions
company notes that international revenues increased 26%, but its North
America business decreased 6% during 2Q/08. During the quarter, VeriFone
was awarded a multi-year contract to provide the U.S. Postal Service
with electronic payment solutions including its “Vx 570” countertop
terminal for 18,000 to 20,000 customer windows. VeriFone also developed
an EMV certified integrated transportation payment system in conjunction
with Bank Asya of Turkey during the second quarter and Canada Post
selected VeriFone to install more than 7,000 “MX870” multimedia payment
systems over the next two years. Additionally, Cabcharge Australia
awarded VeriFone a multimillion dollar contract to supply 20,000 units
of the “Vx 810” full-function PIN entry system with contactless payment
module. For the next quarter ending October 31st, VeriFone expects to
record net revenues of between $260 and $268 million, compared to $238
