The NFC Forum is set to unveil the “Target Mark” via webcast June 2.
The “Target Mark” is a stylized “N”
symbol that enables consumers to easily identify embedded NFC tags. By
holding an NFC-enabled device close to the Target Mark, consumers can
“pick up” information found in everyday objects such as posters, bus
stop signs, parking permits, street signs, medicines, magazine pages and

EMUE VISA

Financial advice website Thinking Money and Visa have teamed-up with UK credit card companies to offer the “EMUE” card as an answer to “card not present fraud”.
The “EMUE” card works by having a small digit
keyboard and an LCD screen embedded on the reverse of the credit card. When shopping or
banking online the customer types in a unique pin number on the
keyboard. This will generate a series of numbers solely to the cardholder and the card which will
then be required to continue with the online purchases. Trials are currently being undertaken by 500 Deloitte employees within
the UK to test new credit card technology. It is hoped that Visa and MBNA credit
cards will be able to draw conclusions by the end of the year on the effectiveness
of this technology in reducing fraud and in understanding usability.

Small Biz Owners Lose Confidence in May

After an encouraging rebound in April, economic confidence among small business owners declined in May as cash flow problems jumped to their highest level since August 2006. About 53% of small business owners say they plan to decrease spending on business development over the next six months, an increase over the 46% in April who said the same. The latest Discover “Small Business Watch” dropped more than 10 points to 78.1 in May, down from 88.5 in April. Approximately 49% of small business owners say they have experienced temporary cash flow issues in the past 90 days, up 10 percentage points from April. Nearly half of small business owners, or 48%, see economic conditions for their businesses getting worse, up from 40% in April. Six out of ten small business operators rate the economy as poor, up from 54% in April. Only 7% rate the economy as excellent or good, and 32% called it fair. The “Watch” is based on a national random survey of 750 small business owners.

IPayX Expands ePayPoint Cash Receipts Service

OH-based Internet Payment Exchange has added a payroll deduction feature to its “ePayPoint Cash Receipts Service”.
The “ePayPoint Cash Receipts Service” payroll deduction feature
eliminates the excess work involved with manually creating payroll
deductions by treating these payments like cash, check or credit card
payments that can be automated at the point of service. A payroll
deduction is automatically entered into the hospital’s general ledger,
as well as into the patient accounting system. Additionally, payroll
deductions can be used as wallet accounts for setting up automatic
payment plans. Internet Payment Exchange (IPayX)
provides electronic billing and payment (EBP) technology solutions to
healthcare providers, utility companies, municipal governments and other
organizations.

AIR CANADA CARDS

Air Canada has entered into a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) with one of its principal credit card processors.
The MOU provides that the level of unrestricted cash required in order to
avoid Air Canada having to provide the processor with additional cash deposits
is now reduced to $800 million. Should Air Canada maintain unrestricted cash
of more than $1.2 billion for two consecutive months, the amount of
unrestricted cash required increases to $1.1 billion. In the event that the
required level of unrestricted cash is increased, the processor will return
all security to Air Canada. Certain amendments contained in the MOU are conditional upon the parties
concluding formal documentation. In the event that such documentation is not
completed by June 15, 2009, the parties will revert to the original terms of
the credit card processing agreements.

D&K Group has teamed with Spartanics to introduce a new roll laminating solution for the plastic card market. The D&K “PVC Card” laminating film simplifies PVC card manufacturing by replacing/complimenting the platen press process typically used to produce any cards excepting secure card applications. The laminating film is specifically designed to adhere to standard PVC stocks used on many print engines in the card industry. Only one operator is needed to
oversee the process due to the ease in which printed PVC sheets can be
placed into a high-speed laminating system that feeds directly into an
in-line cutter. In partnership with Spartanics, D&K Group has developed
a complete card manufacturing system utilizing today’s common print
engines, upgraded D&K Double Kote NT laminating system, and Spartanics
in-line cutter.

Bank have renewed major processing

Punjab National Bank to its issuing platform in Shanghai and signed a
five-year processing agreement with Unicard SpA, the cards unit of
Unipol Banca in Italy. Other new customers signed during 2008 include
Allied Bank and Bank Alfalah in Pakistan and Kotak Mahindra in India.

NEOVIA CEO

Ron Martin, President & CEO of NEOVIA, will leave the Group and step
down as
a Director of the Board on 31 May 2009. Dale Johnson, Chairman of the
Board, will assume executive responsibility for the Group until a new

payment environment and validating PCI DSS compliance. They have
enrolled in Trustwave’s on-demand compliance management solution,
TrustKeeper(R) to access the necessary tools to support on-going

Intelligence’s IP communications software suite. The suite, “Customer

telephony products, and today supports the company’s 200 contact center
