UPCLICK

Payment processor UpClick is offering free payment processing to online
merchants. UpClick’s offering eliminates processing fees, while also
driving
additional revenue to a software company’s bottom line by offering
complementary, non-competitive offers at the point of checkout.
Merchants choose the offers that are displayed on their checkout pages
from products they own or from those of other merchants in the network.
Processing fees are eliminated for all merchants, whether or not their
customers accept the offers, and the aggregate sales across the UpClick
affiliate network fund the free transactions. Companies that use
UpClick to process payments are also eligible—but not
required—to cross-sell their products via the platform, and when a
shopper chooses to accept an offer that is presented to them at
checkout, subsequent revenues are shared between all parties involved.
The company also today
announced early adoption of its platform by more than a dozen software
publishers, including Avanquest Software, Sunbelt Software and Ashampoo.

MHI ETC

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has rolled out a trial for an electronic
toll collection system at the Penchala toll plaza of the
Damansara-Puchong Expressway near Kuala Lumpur. ETC enables collection
of road tolls without requiring
vehicles to stop at tollgates. The trial was launched with support from
the Malaysian government, which is considering upgrading its existing
ETC system to a multi-lane free flow (MLFF) type in order to ease
traffic congestion. For the trial operation, MHI is providing a
roadside communication
system and vehicle on-board units (OBUs). The ETC system being
demonstrated features highly reliable Japanese ETC
system specifications. The system uses active-type dedicated short-range
communication (Active DSRC). Considering the needs of overseas markets,
MHI’s OBU is battery powered and accepts contact-less IC card for
prepayment. Through the demonstration, MHI
aims to prove the reliability of its ETC technology, the new system’s
compatibility with currently operated ETC cards, and its functionality
in mixed operation with the existing system. MHI has been aggressively
marketing this “Global ETC” system with the aim that it will become a
global standard in ETC systems from
Japan. When adopted, the system, which can collect tolls from about
2,000 vehicles per hour, will contribute significantly to easing traffic
congestion.

global network. HSBC and SAS are working together to expand SAS Fraud
Management’s capabilities, beyond protecting against credit and debit
