PayPal to Double Workforce in Asia Pacific

PayPal plans to double the number of employees in Asia Pacific from 1,000 currently to
more than 2,000 by the end of the year. The company plans to add more
than 100 new jobs at its international headquarters in Singapore.
PayPal processed more than $6 billion of total payment volume in Asia
Pacific in 2009, an increase of 38% from 2008. Since its
establishment in the region in 2006, the company has struck dozens of
strategic partnerships with Asian companies including announcements
today with DBS, Singapore’s largest bank, and China UnionPay, China’s
bankcard association. PayPal’s new international headquarters
in Suntec City, Singapore’s technology hub in the middle of the nation’s
central business district represents all of PayPal’s business outside of the USA.

PenFed Waives Amex Foreign Transaction Fees

Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) announced that all foreign transaction fees will be
removed from the “PenFed Premium Travel Rewards American Express Card.”
The Premium Travel Rewards Card earns rewards at the best rate within
PenFed’s credit card portfolio, and is one of the most rewarding
products in the marketplace today. The Card offers a combination of earn
rates across air, hotel and dining categories, with no caps or limits on
the amount of points a Cardmember can earn. Cardmembers can earn 5
points for every $1 spent on Airfare, 1 point for every $1 spent on all
other purchases. And, until December 31, 2010, Cardmembers earn 3 points

Avenue Bank Offers Customers Mobile Banking

Avenue Bank has made available mobile banking services for its clients. Avenue Bank clients can now access their accounts via their web-enabled mobile device for free to review accounts and balances, transfer funds, view account transactions, history, and details – all from their hand-held mobile device. Mobile banking links directly to the bank’s online banking with screens modified to be viewed on a mobile device. Clients must be signed up for online banking to have mobile access; however, there is no additional enrollment, nor applications to download. TN-based Avenue Bank opened in July, 2007, and aims to be Nashville’s signature bank.

PreCash Promotes CFO to COO

TX-based prepaid card provider PreCash has promoted Steve Taylor
to chief operating officer. In his new role, Taylor assumes responsibility for the company’s
operational and financial arms.
Taylor joined PreCash in 2002 as director of finance, and most recently
served as executive vice president of operations and chief financial
officer (CFO). He continues to serve as its CFO.
Before PreCash, Taylor served as CFO for Assembletech and vice president
of finance at TeleCheck. Taylor is a Certified Public Accountant with a
Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Arizona University. PreCash offers
its line of Vision Visa Prepaid Cards and other prepaid Visa and
MasterCard products, prepaid debit card program management services,
