CO-OP to Complete Phase 2 NCR ATM Development

CO-OP Financial Services is nearing completion on phase two application
software to allow members of shared branching credit unions to conduct
nearly all financial transactions at existing NCR ATMs. Currently
operational is “CO-OP Fast Branch” standalone kiosk currently installed
in more than 100 locations while phase two is slated for availability
4Q10. Phase three, meanwhile, will offer additional features and
installable via software on ATMs of NCR and Diebold sometime in 2011.
The shared branch transaction capabilities on the ATM will provide
credit union members full account access as if they were at their own
credit union office.

Xoom.com Named Best Money Transfer Company

The Inter-American Dialogue released “A Scorecard in the Market for Money Transfers,” showing remittance service providers are offering a wider variety of services and are expanding into more countries. The study measured 16 indicators to conclude Xoom.com is the best company for sending money transfers to Latin America and the Caribbean, outperforming 38 other leading U.S.-based money transfer companies mostly thanks to its transparency and inexpensiveness. Xoom.com also received the highest score for customer satisfaction. Among the 39 companies in the study, Xoom.com is the only money transfer company that does not require an agent or branch location to send money. MoneyGram International money transfer has partnered with National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) to expand into the UAE market. The strategic agreement will make available international money transfer services via mobile phones available for the first time to the bank’s customers all over the UAE. Over 44% of Banks Adjust OD Pricing

An astounding 44% of U.S. banks and credit unions have changed their pricing on overdrafts since last year, with 7.1% getting into overdrafts for the first time and 6.4% having altogether stopped this service. Additionally, 6.5% of banks and credit unions surveyed decreased the price of an NSF or overdraft. These findings, according to a national statistical study by Moebs $ervices of more than 2,000 banks and credit unions, the average price of an NSF is $26.25 and for an overdraft is $27.01. Those increasing their prices are charging $29.31 for an NSF and $30.02 for an overdraft. Banks and credit unions decreasing prices charge $23.29 for an NSF and $24.83 for an overdraft.

SECU Provides ATMs to Haliwa-Saponi Tribe

State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) and the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe of Halifax, Warren and surrounding counties in North Carolina have reached an agreements to place an SECU “Cash Points” ATM on tribal grounds in Hollister, North Carolina. This is to be the first scheduled installation of an SECU ATM on the Indian Tribe’s property, with activation slated for July 2010. The Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe has over 3,800 enrolled members, with more than 70% residing within a 6-mile radius of the town of Hollister, in Halifax and Warren Counties. SECU non-profit financial cooperative is owned by its members and has been providing the employees of the State of North Carolina and their families with consumer financial services for more than 70 years.
