Ixaris global electronic payments and Apigee have partnered to make available an industrial-grade API platform for enterprises and developers creating payment applications on Ixaris “Opn.” Apigee will allow Ixaris to secure, control and manage its development platform for the rapid creation of payment applications. With “Ixaris Opn, developers are protected from the complexities of global financial services, providing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with re-usable software components that have been pre-configured to achieve different payment scenarios; this allows developers to cut development time and set up payment applications more quickly.

Euronet Posts 3Q/10 Revenue Down $4mm Y/Y

Euronet Worldwide posted 3Q/10 revenues of $260.2 million, compared to $264.8 million for the year ago period; 3Q/10 adjusted EBITDA of $36.9 million, compared to $38.6 million for the year ago period; net income of $21.0 million, compared to net income of $18.9 million for the year ago period; and total transactions of 430.8 million, compared to 387.3 million for the year ago period. Meanwhile, the EFT Processing Segment posted revenues of $49.1 million, compared to $50.9 million in 3Q/09; adjusted EBITDA of $15.4 million, compared to $17.0 million for the year ago period; and transactions totaled 199.4 million, compared to 188.4 million for the year ago period. The EFT Processing Segment operated 10,519 ATMs as of September 30 for an increase of 1,046 over 9,473 ATMs in the corresponding period of last year. Meanwhile, the epay Segment posted revenues of $148.0 million, compared to $153.6 million last year, and transactions of 226.6 million, compared to 194.4 million last year, while the Money Transfer Segment reported revenues of $63.1 million, compared to $60.3 million for the year ago period, and total transfer transactions of 4.8 million, compared to 4.5 million last year.

GuestLogix onboard store technology to airlines has developed an additional battery offering for use in its widely-used handheld POS devices for onboard retailing. This new offering comes as a response to the rules and concerns put forward by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding Lithium batteries, and may assist airlines in avoiding further regulatory review that could potentially impact the use of existing battery solutions. Lithium batteries are classified as hazardous material but the FAA historically had accepted their use on planes, a position that appears to be changing. The FAA has already banned passengers and airlines from carrying spare, unattached Lithium batteries and mandated that airlines remove Lithium-powered devices from the aircraft for charging – restrictions which have created logistical challenges for both technology providers and their airline customers.

Offering new functionality for purchasing and payment decisions, the built-in “Money Messenger” feature implements PayPal’s “Adaptive Payments” APIs so Discover cardmembers can send money to another person via Discover.com or a smart phone using only the recipient’s email address or mobile phone number. Cardmembers will earn Cashback Bonus(R) on every transaction, which will be treated as a purchase on their Discover account. Plastic Jungle Turns Gift Cards Into PayPal Credit

Plastic Jungle internet gift card exchange is leveraging PayPal to allow PayPal users to fund their accounts with gift cards they are not planning to use. The gift card exchange application was officially debuted at the PayPal X Innovate 2010 conference and is now available to a limited number of PayPal users. This application uses PayPal’s “Adaptive Payments” APIs to allow PayPal’s users to sell gift cards to Plastic Jungle and receive up to 92% of the verified balance transferred into their PayPal accounts. Someone could sell a gift card to a department store and quickly receive funds in his or her PayPal account to put toward another purchase or to pay a bill. There are an average of $30 billion in unredeemed gift cards more than 400 national and local brands are included on the website.

Cardtronics to Operate ATMs at 24 Bosselman Stores

Bosselman convenience stores and travel centers has inked agreements allowing Cardtronics to provide ATM services at 24 of its 42 Pump & Pantry convenience stores across Nebraska. Bosselman will own and maintain the 24 ATMs, which are being purchased from Cardtronics, while Cardtronics will provide ATM Managed Services, including transaction processing through its company-owned processing network. TX-based Cardtronics non-bank owner of ATMs operates over 33,700 ATMs across its portfolio, with ATMs in every major market in the United States and in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, approximately 2,800 ATMs throughout the United Kingdom, and more than 2,900 ATMs throughout Mexico.
