FICO analytics and decision management technology has released its “PlacementsPlus” service 6.0 collections agency management service. The FICO “PlacementsPlus 6.0” includes enhanced analytics and more sophisticated reporting tools for optimized operational results and increased debt recovery. The service ultimately gives creditors new tools to optimize the distribution of their debt among collections agencies, matching specific debt attributes with the agencies best suited to that type of debt. The service also now enables creditors to set multiple and customized debt recovery thresholds and to track and evaluate progress and adjust as needed.

Views Changing on Data PCI Compliance

Currently, 70% feel their organization is more secure than it would be if PCI compliance were not required while 87% believe that the PCI requirements are necessary for protecting cardholder data. Meanwhile, 67% anticipate their spending on PCI compliance will increase in the next year. This, according to Cisco research, also shows 60% suggested PCI-compliance projects can drive other network or network security projects and 43% were most perplexed with the challenge of educating employees on the proper handling of cardholder data while updating antiquated systems was the most encumbering to 32%. Additional findings show government respondents fared better than all other sectors analyzed, with 85% passing their initial assessment while health care organizations only achieved a 72% pass rate and over 85% were aware of the clarifications and recommendations associated with the newly announced PCI DSS 2.0 standards.

19% to Spend More on Valentine’s Y/Y

This year, 32% are planning to do their Valentine’s Day shopping online, 9% greater than last year, while 19% plan to spend more money on their sweetheart, 7% greater than those who intended to spend more than the prior year in 2010. Additionally, 60% plan to purchase something other than chocolates or flowers this year and 18% plan to purchase a gift card for their Valentine. Usablenet mobile technology has integrated with PayPal’s “Mobile Express Checkout” mobile payments to enhance payment offerings on clients’ mobile websites. 55% of Small Businesses Want ‘ObamaCare’ Repeal

More than 50% of small business owners are in favor of repealing the health care reform law passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in 2010. Meanwhile, 46% say the current health care reform law will hurt their business; 47% who provide health insurance to their employees are considering discontinuing health insurance due to high cost; while 51% are not considering discontinuing the insurance and 2% are unsure. These findings, according to a “Small Business Watch” survey from Discover, also conclude 47% of those offering health insurance to employees are considering discontinuing it because of cost; 55% favor repeal of the health care law, 36% oppose it and 9% are unsure. Moreover, 69% reported difficulty in obtaining affordable health care for themselves and their employees and 38% report health care costs having a major impact on their business, up 4 points from last year.

Credit Card Issuance on the Rise

Commercial banks are now trying to develop payment credit cards, led by The Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) which has issued Visa Platinum card with EMV standards. Being considered as the bank with the biggest number of issued international credit cards and with many different card services, Vietcombank said it would continue to focus on card issuance. Foreign banks have also been paying a special attention to developing credit card services, such as with the Citibank Vietnam “Citibank PremierMiles” travel card. This is thanks to research concluding if ATM card holders only use ATMs as cash providers, banks will continue incurring loss due to the heavy investment in ATM networks and that by the end of 2010, the number different kinds of cards of issued had reached 28.5 million. This number includes 400,000 international credit cards.

Chase Paymentech Deploys Verifone Encryption

Chase Paymentech has incorporated VeriFone’s “VeriShield Protect” end-to-end encryption service as a component of its “Safetech” Fraud and Security Solutions. The “VeriShield Protect” reduces PCI compliance costs and protects card information, implementing AES encryption to allow existing payment applications to deal with encrypted cardholder data. With this, cardholder information is encrypted at the exact instant of acceptance and encrypted throughout the enterprise until it is transmitted to a secure decryption server, completely eliminating risk of usable cardholder data being compromised during data breaches. The “VeriShield Protect” solution may be hosted by a processor, hosted on-premise, or hosted by VeriFone and promises low-cost integration.
