AppNinjas Lets Girl Scouts Process Plastic

AppNinjas and Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland allow the latter to process credit card purchases in the field for Girl Scout Cookies in 2011. Girl Scouts are using AppNinjas’ Swipe Credit Card Terminal for iPhone to accept credit cards on the spot at booths in various locations in central Ohio throughout March. Credit card sales are off to a great start, with charge transactions accounting for over $1,500 in sales in the first weekend. The AppNinjas partnership program assists the Girl Scouts with credit card software and hardware, as well as discounted rates for credit card processing.

The Western Union Company remittance is set to launch international money-transfer services in Japan later this month in conjunction with Seven Bank. U.S. Bank to Issues Cards to North American Corporate Clients

U.S. Bank will begin to issue commercial cards for corporate clients in Europe in mid-2011, giving North America-based multinational customers of U.S. Bank the opportunity to extend their U.S. Bank Corporate Card programs to employees of their European operations and easily aggregate global spending data. Elavon Financial Services will issue the cards. The main focus initially will be to issue cards to customers in the U.K. and Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy with Chip-and-PIN capability.

Aperta Introduces ACH & Electronic Funds Transfer

Aperta Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) solutions has provided the mechanism to offer Bangladesh consumers its national, fully automated, image-based check truncation system and Electronic Funds Transfer system. The 21st Century image-based truncation and electronic payment processing allows The Bangladesh Automated Clearinghouse (BACH) to link all 48 of the country’s banks. Aperta provided the BACH with the Bangladesh Automated Cheque Processing System (BACPS), which been live in Bangladesh since October 2010. Global Cash Access Posts 4Q/10 Revenue Down 7.4% Y/Y

Global Cash Access generated 4Q/10 revenue of $137.8 million, down 7.4% from the year ago figure of $148.8 million. Meanwhile, the cash access service provider diclosed its operating income was $10.1 million, a 37.2% drop from the $16.0 million in 4Q/09; EBITDA was $13.8 million for 32.0% drop; and income from continuing operations was $6.1 million for 47.6% plummet. Results throughout all of 2010 show a 9.0% revenue drop from the 2009 figure of $667.7 million to $605.6 million. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were $0.26 a decrease of 42.2% from $0.45 for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009. Cash EPS were $0.54 for fiscal year 2010, a 25.0% decrease from the $0.72 for fiscal year 2009. These figures lead GCA to a projected tax rate of 40%, which is slightly higher than previously announced and EBITDA for fiscal year 2011 will be between approximately $61 million and $65 million, given there’s a slight improvement in the gaming industry in 2011.
