USAA and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) have partnered to offer their credit card with USAA’s investment solutions to more than 1.6 million VFW members.
The new co-branded credit card allows VFW members to apply for the Veterans of Foreign Wars USAA Rewards World MasterCard, which will help support the organization’s activities and programs. Additionally, USAA is now the VFW’s preferred provider of investment solutions for its membership. According to Nathan McKinley, USAA vice president of military affinity, the relationship expands USAA’s efforts to serve those who served the nation during times of war, along with organizations committed to advancing veteran benefits and care.

Branch MacMaster and Camp Fiorante Matthews have filed a proposed national class action in the British Columbia Supreme Court against Visa, MasterCard, and several leading banks, alleging the credit card giants and banks have engaged in multi-billion dollar price fixing conspiracies. The conspiracies were allegedly to increase or maintain the fees paid by merchants on every credit card transaction. The filer claims, for example, when a customer pays with a credit card, Visa and MasterCard take a percentage fee, along with the card-issuing bank and the company that processes the payment. That percentage allegedly varied depending on what kind of card is used, while basic cards charge a smaller percentage and premium credit cards that offer points and other rewards cost merchants a much higher fee.Details
Gemalto digital security has released its UICC-embedded software application compliant with Mobile MasterCard “PayPass M/Chip 4” MasterCard payment specification designed for m-NFC. The software application and the UICC have both successfully achieved the compliance assessment and security testing certification in accordance with MasterCard’s highest chip security requirements. This paves the way for mass commercial rollouts of NFC payment across the world. Oberthur Technologies Security Printing division recorded a remarkable increase of 50% of its banknotes activity. With this, O2 Money customers can now transfer funds between O2 Money cards in real time irrespective of where either sender or recipient is located. The money transfer system costs EUR1 for any amount transferred up to EUR350, recipients can spend the money on the card in-store or online or to withdraw funds at an ATM. App users also benefit from a dashboard feature providing balance checks and transaction history. Since its launch, over 15,000 people have signed up to O2 Money.
