I-design Introduces its Improved ATM software

CASH machine advertiser I-design has launched the next generation of its ATM software, “joono,” to replace its existing “atmAd” ATM software. This will allow banks to also communicate with customers through mobile phones and plasma screens in addition to ATMs and self-service machines. I-design disclosed “joono” also adds new features for ATM marketing and will enable banks and ATM owners to manage digital marketing communications centrally on a single platform.

Travelex GEO Offers renminbi payments

Travelex Global Business Payments international payments specialist now lets users trade in Chinese renminbi through Travelex’s GEO Global Clearing Network. Travelex will be the first non-bank Payments Specialist to offer business transfers in renminbi, the official currency of the People’s Republic of China. Customers of Travelex will be able to trade directly with authorised Chinese companies, which will help to strengthen trade relationships with Chinese suppliers and allow businesses to mitigate against foreign exchange risks. Eckoh to develop smartphone app for NIE Energy

Customer service speech recognition specialist Eckoh has been appointed by NIE Energy to develop a smartphone application to let customers purchase electricity via their smartphone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The EckohPAY produc processes PCI DSS compliant card payments and will now let NIE Energy’s customers purchase electricity using the phone and web, and by the end of June via a smartphone application. NIE Energy supplying over 760,000 customers throughout Northern Ireland.

Maybank, Pos extend banking network footprint

Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Pos Malaysia Bhd have extended their shared banking services to Sabah with a target to cover 26 selected post offices in the state this month. Under the strategic partnership launched in Kota Marudu recently, Pos Malaysia will provide a number of Maybank’s services at its selected offices. Maybank’s head of community distribution, Mohd Hanif Suadi said Maybank-Pos Malaysia also plan to introduce additional services such as money transfer and the opening of savings accounts in the near future. The initial banking services available at Kota Marudu are over-the-counter withdrawals, cash deposit and selected payments.

Eurotech and Mondialpol Provide Intesa Sanpaolo cash transport

Eurotech and Mondialpol Service announced the finalisation of an agreement for the real-time monitoring of deliveries and withdrawals of cash via cloud computing thanks to “Cloud Ready” mobile devices from Eurotech. The agreement will allow to significantly improve the service level provided to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, making cash transport and counting more efficient and increasing security standards, and this demonstrates the strong innovation spirit of this banking Group.This is the first security application in Italy to use this technology, and Eurotech’s partnership with the Mondialpol group is intended to transform the cash transport sector, which until now has been managed in the traditional way.

EPC releases Sepa Cards standardisation requirements

The European Payments Council (EPC) and the Cards Stakeholders Group released the latest version of the Sepa Cards Standardisation Volume – Book of Requirements for public consultation. The EPC, representing the European banking industry in relation to payments, carries out a card standardisation programme designed to achieve a consistent customer experience, high levels of security and optimum process efficiency throughout the SEPA cards market. In 2009, the EPC promoted the creation of the Cards Stakeholders Group together with representatives of five sectors also active in the cards domain including retailers, vendors – such as manufacturer of card payment devices and related IT systems – processors, card schemes and banks. The Cards Stakeholders Group develops the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume.

State Bank of India set to launch remittance

The State Bank of India (SBI) is all set to commence operations in Saudi Arabia. They will start soon after completion of few regulatory requirements expected in the next few weeks. Having completed all other procedural requirements and all necessary infrastructure is in place, the Bank intends to leave its mark despite some big players in the sector and stiffen competition in remittance services. All the SBI branches in India are networked, as are associate banks, and would be leveraging on network and technology platforms to transfer funds almost instantly.

MoneyGram International Adds Global Network Agents

MoneyGram International has added Friendly Check and RiteCheck financial service center agents to its agent network. With this, Friendly Check-which began offering MoneyGram services on May 16- and RiteCheck- which began offing MoneyGram service on April 26- can now provide international money transfer and bill payment services under the MoneyGram brand. Friendly Check added 45 customer-centric locations across North Carolina and Virginia that offer MoneyGram Express Payment and Utility Bill Payment products in addition to money transfers while RiteCheck added 12 high-volume locations in Harlem and the Bronx to MoneyGram’s network and will provide MoneyGram Express Payment and money transfer services.
