Diebold and University Federal Credit Union are combining deposit automation technology with personal interactions in a teller-less environment. With this, University Federal Credit Union (UFCU) will soon offer a teller-less banking environment with plans to open three teller-less branches in the Austin, Texas region to offer independent, yet personalized, banking experiences. UFCU designed open, inviting branches and Diebold will provide a unique terminal that will combine self-service deposit automation technology with personal human interaction. UFCU’s custom-designed Diebold ATMs support envelope-free transactions in which users load cash and checks directly into the machine. Enhanced note acceptors accept up to 50 mixed-denomination notes, and intelligent depository modules process checks and bill payment documents.

JHA Names GM, Payment Processing Solutions

John Postle has been named to GM of its Jack Henry & Associates’ Payment Processing Solutions (PPS) division. PPS encompasses Jack Henry & Associates’ “jhaPassPort” suite of ATM and debit transaction processing services, and the payment processing services added through the company’s October 2009 acquisition of Pemco Technologies. He served the past 10 years as the manager of the “jhaPassPort” business line and was instrumental in the acquisition of Pemco Technologies. Effective July 1, 2011, he began providing executive oversight of the development, quality assurance, support, installation, operations, communications, and education departments that support PPS. In his expanded role, he joined the company’s senior management team that encompasses functionally aligned general managers. He holds a BBA in Finance.

Four San Francisco Chefs Raise $25,000 for Local Charities at illy Chef Challenge

Chase Card Services and illy, the Italian coffee company beloved for its unique blend of the highest quality coffee, hosted the illy Chef Challenge on August 6 at the Westin St. Francis. Presented by Chase Sapphire Visa Signature, San Francisco chefs Chris Cosentino and Elizabeth Falkner faced off against Dominique Crenn and Russell Jackson in a live cooking battle. Cosentino and Falkner were named “top chefs” of the culinary clash after winning over judges with four creative dishes using illy coffee, including Cosentino’s eggs poached in bacon-coffee stock with coffee gélee, potatoes and celery, and Falkner’s coffee ice cream sundae with bananas foster and cocoa nibs. Chase Sapphire Visa Signature cardmembers received VIP seating, as well as discounted tickets to the event. Global Payout to Launch Civilian Payroll Debit Card

Global Payout is launching payroll debit cards to U.S. companies seeking to significantly reduce costs and improve efficiencies in payroll processing to its employees. Walmart Expands Check, Card Cashing Services

Walmart expanded check cashing and card cashing services at stores nationwide, including the ability to cash payroll and eligible government benefits cards to the penny. The expansion includes cashing most types of pre-printed checks up to $5,000 and accepting more forms of ID for check cashing, as well as establishing Express Check Cashing check-out lanes at selected stores during peak hours. Walmart will now cash Rebate; Student loan; 401k; Retirement; Loan; IRA; Pension; Expense; and Insurance checks, along with MoneyGram money orders. Walmart cashes checks and cards up to $1,000 for $3, and cashes checks up to $5,000 for $6, offering significant savings over many other check cashers.

NetSpend Holdings underbanked services launched “BenefitsExpress” private-labeled automated direct deposit enrollment management application engineered and powered by Prepaid Resources prepaid debit. Level Four Conforms to American Disability Act

Level Four Software by January 2012 will have its “BRIDGE:test” product ready for financial institutions and ATM deployers to conduct fully automated end to end testing of new voice guidance functionality at the ATM. Level Four is now creating the required updates to its Regression Test Manager product in BRIDGE:test. The solution will be demonstrable to external customers from August 15th 2011 via Webex and those interested in finding out more should contact the company.
