Four San Francisco Chefs Raise $25,000 for Local Charities at illy Chef Challenge

Chase Card Services and illy, the Italian coffee company beloved for its unique blend of the highest quality coffee, hosted the illy Chef Challenge on August 6 at the Westin St. Francis. Presented by Chase Sapphire Visa Signature, San Francisco chefs Chris Cosentino and Elizabeth Falkner faced off against Dominique Crenn and Russell Jackson in a live cooking battle. Cosentino and Falkner were named “top chefs” of the culinary clash after winning over judges with four creative dishes using illy coffee, including Cosentino’s eggs poached in bacon-coffee stock with coffee gélee, potatoes and celery, and Falkner’s coffee ice cream sundae with bananas foster and cocoa nibs. Chase Sapphire Visa Signature cardmembers received VIP seating, as well as discounted tickets to the event. Two Chase Sapphire cardmembers were selected to sit at their own tasting table next to the judges and sample the chefs’ culinary creations.

Global Payout to Launch Civilian Payroll Debit Card

Global Payout is launching payroll debit cards to U.S. companies seeking to significantly reduce costs and improve efficiencies in payroll processing to its employees. Walmart expanded check cashing and card cashing services at stores nationwide, including the ability to cash payroll and eligible government benefits cards to the penny. The expansion includes cashing most types of pre-printed checks up to $5,000 and accepting more forms of ID for check cashing, as well as establishing Express Check Cashing check-out lanes at selected stores during peak hours. Walmart will now cash Rebate; Student loan; 401k; Retirement; Loan; IRA; Pension; Expense; and Insurance checks, along with MoneyGram money orders. Walmart cashes checks and cards up to $1,000 for $3, and cashes checks up to $5,000 for $6, offering significant savings over many other check cashers.

Cardtronics retail ATM owner expanded its ATM management services agreement with The Kroger grocery retailer, having added 350 ATMs to both its retail ATM footprint and Kroger relationship, which was first conceived in 2010. The ATM additions are underway in Ralphs, Food 4 Less and Foods Co. grocery stores in California and Nevada, as well as Tom Thumb convenience stores in Florida and Alabama.
