ProtectCell Partners Process Pink

ProtectCell is partnering with Process Pink Payments payment processing services. Process Pink is among the leading credit and debit card payment services in the U.S. and now when a ProtectCell transaction is processed, a portion of the transaction is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The National Breast Cancer Foundation (“NBCF”) estimates that 260,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Of that, nearly 40,000 women will not survive. Process Pink’s affiliation with the NBCF and ProtectCell reinforces the NBCF’s mission to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.

Six Banks to Issue Contactless Visa Cards

Six German banks are set to launch the Visa payWave contactless system in 2012, including BW Bank, DKB, Landesbank Berlin, Targobank and Volkswagen bank. The contactless payment system is based on EMV technology where a card terminal at the point of sale actually reads the EMV chip that is located within the contactless cards. This taps for the bank customers the more than 26 million contactless Visa cards across Europe and 175,000 contactless terminals. By the end of next year, Visa Europe disclosed there will be more than 50 million contactless cards in operation.

E-payment Growth Up 45% Since ’02

Mobile phone payments are becoming popular with both consumers and traders as people seek modes of payments that enhance efficiency and safety. Most businesses are integrating their systems to mobile phone operators’ platforms to tap more customers. The need to adopt mobile phone commerce results from the increased use of mobile phones and, more importantly, the introduction of money transfer services by various telecommunication companies, such as M-pesa (Safaricom), Zap (Airtel), Orange Money (Orange) and Yu Cash (Yu). According to Kenya’s Communication Commission, about 13 million Kenyans use money transfer services.
