GUESS brands is integrating the VeriFone “GlobalBay” iPad Retailing solution inside a dozen stores in the U.S. and plans to expand the deployment widely throughout the year. The VeriFone “GlobalBay” iPad Retailing App is powered by an easy-to-use web-based content management console that allows the retailer to easily design, brand and manage iPad Apps – no programming skills required. The VeriFone GlobalBay iPad application allows shoppers and store associates to browse various styles via the LookBook functionality and to select products for either immediate purchase or order online if the product is not available in the store. After hours, the iPad is used for distribution of training videos to store associates and managers.

Chase Paymentech Sees Shopping Strength Demise

The holiday season has come to a close and it has been another record season for 50 of the leading U.S. online merchants a part of Chase Paymentech’s Cyber Holiday Pulse Index. From November 1 to December 31, transactions were up 37%, sales were up 25%, and average tickets declined 9% year over year. For the full month of December, transactions were up 35% and sales were up 22% from December 2010. By analyzing the actual payment activity for 50 top ecommerce retailers, the Pulse Index is a valuable tool for spotting several key online shopping trends. For example, the index has demonstrated a trend toward smaller average ticket values over the past few years. While it’s clear that the recession drove that trend for a couple of seasons, last year the data linked smaller tickets to the growing demand for digital media such as music and, more recently, ebooks.

Fiserv expanded access to its “WC3” Web-based client control center to include smartphones. The “WC3” web tool allows Fiserv clients to compose document messages at the individual level, manage document content and monitor production status for products including statements, EOBs and credit, debit and prepaid cards. The “WC3” mobile application lets Fiserv clients monitor and manage production and delivery information including job status, special handling requests, inventory volumes and usage, and mail dates from the convenience of their smartphone. It works with the majority of the most popular smartphones and syncs to the client’s desktop, so changes made using one access tool, will be reflected on the other.

Viableware debuted its “Rail” pay-at-the-table system that maintains the traditional look and feel of the bill presentation folder diners are used to seeing delivered to their table, with the added capabilities of a digital interface, at-the-table credit card swiping, on-the-spot digital signing, and credit card authorization. Allowing restaurant guests to self-swipe credit or debit cards, the Rail protects them from card information theft, while also enabling restaurants to streamline payment processes and generate new advertising revenues. This allows restaurant patrons to easily split bills or bar tabs, auto-calculate tips, and have a receipt emailed to them at the touch of a finger. The “Rail” also allows restaurant guests to securely manage their entire payment process – and when they’re finished, a small LED light atop the folder indicates to the table server when the bill has been paid.

Infor Selects GXS’s Cloud-Based Tokenization

GXS announced Infor business app software is integrating GXS’s cloud-based Tokenization Service into their Infor10 Expense Management SaaS solution. The GXS Tokenization service will enable the secure exchange of credit card information and comply with PCI DSS and accepts transactions from credit card issuers and replaces information such as the card number and expiration date with a secure “token” before sending the data to Infor. Infor10 Expense Management SaaS is a software-as-a-service that helps companies manage the costs and compliance in employee spending, with modules for expense reports, payment requests, travel plans and time sheets. By integrating with GXS’s cloud-based service, Infor can provide a PCI-compliant service while reducing the need for complex changes to their internal systems and minimizing the scope of PCI compliance audits.
