IKEA automates cash handling with Wincor Nixdorf

IKEA is the world’s first retail customer to use Wincor Nixdorf’s new CINEO solution to automate cash handling at its stores. Following successful piloting in France and Germany, the solution is already installed in more than 40 stores in ten countries. The new solution enables cash to be automatically verified at the end of a shift and stored in an audit-proof manner in the CINEO systems’ storage media. At the start of a shift authorized employees are assigned precisely defined quantities of notes and coins. The cash is stored in intelligent cassettes which can also be used by cash-in-transit operators to take it away. The new solution increases security and ensures significant time savings by eliminating the cost and effort involved in handling cash.

TSYS Appoints Group Execs

TSYS announced the addition of Dennis Jones joins as Group Executive of Business Operations, TSYS International, along with Rick Machold as Group Executive, Assistant General Auditor, TSYS. Heartland Appoints CSO To FS-ISAC Board

John South, CSO, Heartland Payment Systems, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC). In his new role, South will help oversee the operation of the FS-ISAC and set direction for future information sharing and security initiatives that benefit the membership. South is currently Heartland’s liaison with security professionals in the FS-ISAC as Heartland contributes to, and collaborates with, the organization to help protect the payments and financial services ecosystem. In 2009, Heartland was instrumental in the formation of the Payments Processing Information Sharing Council (PPISC) – a group under the FS-ISAC umbrella – that fosters information sharing among industry leaders, organizations and government agencies.

Mercury Payment Systems will demonstrate new hosted payments technology at the National Retail Federation (NRF) annual convention and expo in New York City. The solution shifts the responsibility of handling sensitive card holder data to Mercury, helping remove both software developers and merchants from the scope of the PA-DSS and PCI DSS. The Mercury “HostedCheckout” is a customizable payment page on the merchant’s website, where card data is collected for secure payment processing by Mercury. All other functions for ecommerce and mcommerce are designed and programmed by the software developer prior to their HostedCheckout integration.
